Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, known in the Western world as Ibn Saud, became the founder and first king of Saudi Arabia, reigning from 23 September 1932 until his death in 9 November 1953.
The term "Gunayh" is the Arabic transliteration of the word "Guinea," which refers to this historic Saudi Arabian coin and another, minted in 1957 (1377 AH), with the same face value, both similar to the British guinea, which were minted in Saudi Arabia in the mid-20th century.
The year 1370 AH (Hijri calendar) corresponds approximately to October 13, 1950 to October 2, 1951 in the Gregorian calendar. The Islamic calendar is lunar, meaning that the months have 29 or 30 days, resulting in a year with 354 or 355 days. This calendar, based on the lunar year, does not correspond to calendars based on the solar year, just like the Gregorian calendar, which is the one we use on a daily basis.
